Vanakkam. I am happy to introduce myself and inform the basic details about our Hyderabad Maanagar Tamil Sangam.

I am Prof. N.Krupanandam, working as a professor in the Centre for Applied Linguistics & Translation Studies, University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad- 500 046, India. I am the founder and the General Secretary of this sangam.

This sangam was inaugurated in the year 1998. It was declared inaugurated by then the Governer of Andhra Pradesh Dr.C. Rangarajan. Since then, it is functioning very actively. In the short period of 9 years, we have organised about 80 good programmes apart from our monthly literary meet.

This sangam has organised several mega programmes including Sun T.V. fame Kalyaana Maalai ( thrice) , Visu vin Arattai Arangam ( twice), Saptha swarangal (6 months continuously) . All these programmes are telecasted in Sun T.V. We have organised a few more programmes in Vijay and Raj Channels also.

It is a non-political and a non-religious organisation, but only a cultural and linguistic body, interested in the promotion of Tamil language, culture here. We are equally interested in various Social service activities.

We have a few hundred patrons, life members and a few thousand annual members.

We have a few ambitions. We want to have our own building for our Tamil sangam, in which we want to construct a kalyaana Mandapam cum Auditorium. We too want to install a very good Tamil School. In the evening in the same school premises interested to conduct various technical training classes for ladies and physically handicapped persons. I am very sure in near future it will be fullfilled.

We have organised

a ) several special lectures of Solomon Pappaiah, Sukhi Sivam, Tenkacchi Swaminathan, Avvai natajajan etc

b) many Musical concert by Mrs.Sudha Raghunathan, Nitya Sri, Gayatri, Rajkumar Bharathi, Key Board Sathya etc

c) Several Bharatha natyam dance programmes,

d) some programmes with Film artists like S.Ve. Shekar, Hero Vijay, Paravai Muniyamma and T.V artists like Vijay Adiraj, Pon vannan, Comedy time City Babu Shivaji fame S.Raja etc.

We are regularly organising free medical camps.We have saved about 20 persons by giving rare group blood for their operations etc. We are supplying free text books and note books to the Tamil students here. We are giving scholarships to a few poor students. We have helped a few needy poor people by arranging Telephone booth, small shops etc. Every sunday our volunteers are taking classes for the Tamil students living in slum areas.

This is a brief information about our Hyderabad Maanagar Tamil Sangam. Kindly pass on this information to your friends and convince them to become a member of our Tamil Sangam. Membership Details :

* Annual membership - Rs.100/- per year ( renewal every year)
* Life membership - Rs. 1000 (only once)
* Patron - Rs. 1500 (only once)

Patrons and Life members can sit in the front rows reserved for them. They can participate in the special meetings convened for the development of our sangam and give their suggestions. Moreover they are the pillars of our sangam.

# 99% programs are planned on Sundays only.

# Past programs were conducted in Shilparamam, Ravindra Bharathi, Hari Hara Kala Bhavan SP Road, Koutha Swarajya Vihar ( Padmarao nagar ) etc.

# Members can attend and even participate in the events based on their
interests.

# Most of programs are free for members. Very Few programs which exceed more than Rs 2 Lakh budget will be ticketed.
